LLHH July Board Meeting

The LLHH Board of Directors met on Thursday July 14, 2011. Those in attendance were Gary Wells – President, Dave Ryan Vice-President, Dann Wellman and Jeff Rocco SHG, Shannon Elliot and Wayne Shures Rochester, Tim Dixon Chatham Glenwood, Doug Nelson Springfield High School, Jennifer Decatur. Lance Anderson and Janet Shure were both missing these.

Gary called the meeting to order at 6:42. After the minutes were distributed Gary asked for a motion to accept them. The motion was made by Wayne and seconded by Tim. The motion passed unanimously.

In the absence of league treasurer Janet Shures, Gary reported the following fund balances:

Heartland Checking $ 5,293.60 Heartland MMF $ 22,380.87 Hearland Savings $ 5.00 Hickory Point $ 964.97 For a TOTAL OF $ 28,644.44

There was a motion made to accept the report by Doug and seconded by Wayne, It passed on a unanimous voice vote.

Gary then talked about league play for next year. Gary said that right now it looked like there would be 5 teams in the league. However he countered that if there were not enough players from Springfield, there was a possibility that the league could fold, if the numbers were not sufficient. In discussion board member express concern about the number of games, and voiced the collective opinion that LLHH teams could/might play some of the CIPHL teams, perhaps not a full schedule of games. It was also suggested to have the stronger teams play the stronger teams and the weaker teams play each other.

There was then discussion of club refunds for the upcoming seasons. Gary said given the fact that the overall balance had declined, Gary was hesitant about rebates.

In an effort to keep costs down the concept of two-man referees systems verses and three man system was discussed for next season.

Gary also commented that USA Hockey is no longer going to sanctioning in-line hockey. Thus LLHH will have to look at another option if we intend to run an in-line program in the upcoming spring.

Under new business Shannon suggested changing the number of games that must be played to participate in the play offs, be amended to a percentage which would be more reflective of the number of games that a team played.

Shannon said that the Jr. Blues coach was interested in contemplating holding a camp for high school players, right in front of the high school season. Gary said the league would like to congratulate the Decatur JV team, which finished fourth in the state play-downs.

The meeting was closed at 7:30 p.m.

The next meeting will be the first Thursday in August - 8/4/2011 at the V.F.W. at 6:30 p.m.
